Mayer & Cie. on show at Simatex trade fair in Argentina

The Simatex International Textile Machinery Trade Fair, held in Buenos Aires from 5 to 7 April 2016, is Argentina’s foremost industry fair. At Simatex Mayer & Cie. and its Argentine representative Dimatex jointly presented an important machine from the current product range: the Relanit 3.2 HS. The high-performance Single Jersey circular knitting machine, first unveiled at last year’s ITMA, reaches a speed of 45 rpm at 30 inches for yarns with elastomeric plating and speeds of 50 rpm for yarns without elastomeric plating.

This machine, a member of the Relanit family, which has been extremely successful for decades, did not fail to make its mark in Buenos Aires. “The Relanit 3.2 HS was definitely the major attraction at Simatex,” said Fernando Ferradás, managing director of the local MCT representative Dimatex. “That was what all the fair visitors told us. Especially on the fair’s second and third days we were able to welcome a very large number of existing and prospective customers to our stand. There was, of course, a demand for the entire Mayer & Cie. knitting machine range,” he said, sounding satisfied with the result of the trade fair.

The trade fair organiser registered nearly 10,000 visitors in the course of the three-day event. Most were from Argentina but many guests from neighbouring countries were not going to miss the industry event. There were nearly 230 exhibitors at Simatex, of which 162 were from Argentina. Many of them, like Dimatex, exhibited jointly with international partners.

For Mayer & Cie., which has always maintained a strong presence in South America, Simatex taking place every other year is a regular feature of the trade fair calendar. Since last year in particular the textile machinery manufacturer has registered stronger demand once more in Argentina and Mexico. In addition to favourable exchange rates there has been a trend toward more local procurement.
